Arriving felt surreal. My friend Amy kept joking on the boat ride in "Did our plane really land?", she watched Beetlejuice on the flight into Mexico. Are we living? Is this real?

This place is special.

I felt it immediately.

The retreat center spans across three plots of indigenous land owned by three different families. There is a strong ethical and moral priority to preserve and respect the land and it is palpable.

You can see it in the building materials, the architectural design, and how nestled into the land the center stands.

The nourishment from the food comes from near by land and arrives by ATV everyday, there are no paved roads, The sound of the ocean drones from every part of the land like a grounding rod. The wildlife is vibrant and gifts beautiful melodies on top of the oceans constant calming sound. The power of unplugging and slowing down the pace all played in concert to bring us to the purity of our most precious resource: the present moment.

We practiced yoga twice daily. Our morning practice was awakening, enlivening, and prepared the body and mind for the day ahead reflecting the energy and aspects of the sun. The evening practices were restorative, calming, and reflected the energy of the moon. We sat together in ceremony that honored the lands culture. We ate nourishing yogic meals three times a day, while gathered on a beautiful open air deck overlooking the ocean.

We laughed.

We cried.

We remembered our unique gifts.

We remembered how we are all the same.

We fell in love, with ourselves, with each other, with God.

As I settle back into routine at home, I bring with me practices sharpened to return to the present moment, love and connection of Sangha, nourishment and excitement.

Join us next year as we return again.

Dates announced soon. xoxo
